19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
