Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Fans can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
